MONTAGES: FILM, VIDEO ART, AND CRITICAL AESTHETICS

From Thursday 16 to Friday 17 June

How have modern and contemporary filmmakers and video artists taken on board digital technology? How has their ‘digital turn’ contributed not only to challenge aesthetic canons but also to reconfigure established modes of production of film, art, and audiovisual expression? This concluding workshop brings together historians of cinema, art historians, and philosophers to address the raised questions by inviting them to investigate and reflect upon different kinds of montage, both in a technical and aesthetic sense.
